Frequently asked questions
- Is this YouTube transcript tool free?
- Yes. Fetching, copying, and downloading transcripts is completely free and does not require an account. Only the optional AI summary needs a free SocialSnap login.
- Which YouTube links are supported?
- Standard watch links (youtube.com/watch?v=…), short links (youtu.be/…), Shorts, embed and live URLs, and bare 11-character video IDs all work.
- Why does it say no transcript is available?
- The video has no captions we can reach. That usually means the uploader disabled captions, or the video is private, unlisted, age-restricted, or region-blocked. Videos published minutes ago may also need time for auto-captions to finish generating.
- Does it work for non-English videos?
- Yes. We detect the video’s original caption language and return the transcript in that language.
- Can I get the transcript with timestamps?
- Not yet — the tool returns clean prose designed for reading, quoting, and pasting into AI tools. Timestamped output is on the roadmap.
- What can I do with the transcript?
- Search a video for a specific quote, repurpose it into blog posts or social content, translate it, feed it to an AI assistant, or keep it as a searchable record of a talk or podcast.
