TL;DR
After criticizing Del Monte for growing pink pineapples in Costa Rica but not selling them there, the company invited the creator to taste one, revealing a sweeter fruit with less sour spice than regular pineapples.
“That's kind of like spitting in people's faces, man. Like why would you put it in a billboard if you don't even sell it in the country?”
“The sour spice that you get on a regular pineapple is not here.”
1. The Corporate Response
After criticizing Del Monte for not selling pink pineapples in Costa Rica where they're grown, corporate invited the creator for a VIP tasting event to finally try the fruit.
2. Development & Unavailability
Del Monte invested 17 years developing the pink pineapple in Costa Rica, yet the creator previously found none available for purchase in the country despite searching everywhere and standing next to the crops.
3. Taste Test Results
The pink pineapple is visibly much pinker than expected and lacks the sour spice found in regular pineapples, tasting noticeably sweeter overall.
4. Premium Product Tier
Del Monte also provided a Ruby Glow pineapple, which retails for $400, indicating the company's focus on ultra-premium luxury fruit positioning.
